I vaguely remember the first time I saw this, and that I _assumed_ the slaves were talking about Christianity, because, y'know, the Roman Empire, gladiators, there had to be early Christians.
I think there's a cut from a mention of 'the Sun/Son' to the sun in the sky, but I missed the misdirection. Because I'm slow that way.
